At Trinity we say that “God’s unconditional love is practiced here.” The Trinity Center for Community is how we put love into action.

Trinity Center for Community

The Trinity Center for Community is our outreach and social justice initiative. Programs include: Food security (Saturday Soup community meal and Tuesday Food Pantry), affordable housing assistance, job and leadership training, recovery and wellness coaching, financial literacy and empowerment, and arts and culture initiatives.

We also organize for systemic change, and we are a founding member of the Monmouth Housing Coalition.

Our mission is to be in solidarity with our neighbors [or community] by meeting the immediate needs of hunger, housing, employment, and physical and mental health in Asbury Park and Monmouth County, while also organizing to change systemic injustice.

By meeting immediate needs in our community and organizing for change, we envision an empowered community dedicated to justice and wholeness [or wellness or well-being] for people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and economic backgrounds.

Racial Justice Project

mISSION

The Racial Justice Project (RJP) is dedicated to advancing racial equity through education and justice work inside Trinity and in our Asbury Park community. We were founded in 2015 at Trinity.

We welcome folks who are grounded in the definition of Racism = Prejudice + Power and that Justice is more powerful than charity!

Housing Justice

MISSION

Trinity believes that housing is a human right and that all people should have safe, stable housing. We advocate for affordable housing for all, and our caseworkers assist in placing community members into housing. This housing support is made possible by your generous donations and by grants.

Our innovative Radical Wellbeing Program provides resources to help community members thrive in their housing, including lifeskills and financial empowerment coaching, mental health support, job placement, and recovery support.

Food Justice

Trinity’s Food Pantry and Saturday Soup kitchen are run by wonderful local volunteers serving over 35,000 meals a year. We continuously work to get more local, healthy, and organic food to serve to our guests.

During our soup kitchen we have volunteer social workers and an acupuncturist who work to empower our guests and expands their options for their future.

Code Blue

mission

Code Blue is Trinity’s emergency winter shelter. When temperatures drop below freezing, residents of Asbury Park and wider Monmouth County are invited to stay overnight in our building.

out in the cold, a man huddles from the winter freezeDuring the 2023-24 winter season, we served 345 individuals (21 percent of whom identified as women) over 65 nights, averaging over 50 people per night (and sometimes over 70 people).

Code Blue saves lives, and this year we are adding life-transforming resources like onsite casework support.

Code Blue requires tremendous resources of time, money, and gifts of food and supplies.
